Officials respond to two fires in the Pine Belt

The Richton Volunteer Fire Department says firefighters responded to the Hudson's Dirt Cheap store around 4 a.m. Monday.

Officials said it took firefighters from three departments to put out the blaze. No injuries were reported, but fire investigators say they are still investigating the cause.

Meanwhile, officials say arson is the cause of a weekend fire that burned an old crime scene in Hattiesburg.
Fire investigators said a home on Walnut Street was vacant and had no utilities when it caught fire Saturday night. The house was the scene of a fatal shooting eight years ago.
Bergia Hammond, 39, was murdered at that home in August of 2000. Timothy Lee, 22, of Hattiesburg pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the case.
Hattiesburg police said the house is once again a crime scene thanks to the arson.

Officials are still trying to determine how the fire was set.
