The goal of creating a formalized trauma care system is to properly deliver patients to the right hospital at the right time.
The Southeast Trauma Care System begin in 1991. Level I is the most comprehensive and Level IV the least.
Forrest County is a Level II Trauma Care Region which includes Forrest General Hospital in Trauma Region 6
Jones County is a Level III Trauma Care Region which includes Southe Central Regional Medical Center in Trauma Region 6
Lamar and Jasper Counties do not participate.
