Coca-Cola plant to become distribution center

The role of Hattiesburg's Coca Cola Bottling Plant will soon be changing.

Company President Brad Brian confirmed that the production facility on Hwy 98 West will soon become a distribution center.

The plant has produced 2 liter and 20 ounce bottles of Coke for years, but Brian said a new 800,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility under construction in Baton Rouge will takeover soft drink production for the region.

The Hattiesburg plant will become a distribution hub for Mccomb, the Gulf Coast, and Hattiesburg.

The plant employs 140 people, and Brian said those numbers may increase once the transition is in place.
