Hattiesburg reports new crime stats

Hattiesburg Police say crime numbers for the year show declines in most categories compared to last year.

The recently released crime stats show crime has decreased overall by 17 percent compared to this time last year.

Homicides, rapes, robberies and burglaries have all decreased significantly. The numbers show an increase in aggravated assaults, auto thefts, and arsons.

    Southern Miss football's annual black and gold spring game turned out to be a defensive battle as the Gold squad prevailed 14-7.
