Laurel police arrest alleged drug dealer

Laurel Police say they have finally got a major cocaine dealer off the streets.

Marcus House, 53, was arrested for the sale of cocaine and went before a justice court judge Friday. Police say House has been under investigation for over three years.

Authorities claim he was a major player in Jones County's drug industry. They say his arrest will cut down drug activity in the area.

"He just one of these heavy weights that get out here and he distributes to these other guys," said Vince Williams of Laurel Narcotics. "He was very sneaky. He barely toughed it. He passed out the cocaine to other dealers, and he rarely ever had any, but we finally got our break to charge him with the sale of cocaine."

House's bond was set at $25,000, and if convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.
