FBI investigating recalled fish fillets

The FBI is trying to find out how herbal supplements got into a family's frozen fish dinner, a discovery that prompted a voluntary recall in 11 states, including Mississippi.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Philadelphia, Jerri Williams, says agents are trying to determine if a crime occurred.

Gorton's is the company that distributed the fish. It says the pills were harmless over-the-counter herbal supplements. A U.S.

Food and Drug Administration spokesman declined comment on the investigation into what he called "suspected tampering."

Gorton's recalled about 1,000 cases of its 6 Crispy Battered Fish Fillets.

The product is 11.4 ounces and bears a UPC Code of No. 4440015770, date code of 7289G1, and best-if-used-by date of April 2009.

    Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
