The Oak Grove High school drama team has taken top honors at a national competition this weekend. Their performance of the comedy, Tales of Trickery, won best production at the Southeastern Theater Conference in Chatanooga, Tennessee.
It's the first national win for Oak Grove, which competed against schools from 9 other states. The team also received awards for best technical crew and best actor.
Mississippi has won the competition in two previous years...1978 and 1991.
Meanwhile, Hattiesburg High School is also celebrating a win for its forensics students this weekend. The school's mock trial team won the state championship in Jackson last night.
The 8-member team tested its knowledge of law and public speaking against 20 other schools from across the state. They took home a large judge's gavel as their trophy and they'll move on to a national competition in Delaware in May.
A mock trial team from Sacred Heart High School in Hattiesburg took 4th place at the same competition.
