At this hour several National Guardsmen from Arkansas are recovering after severe weather passed throught the Pinebelt.
Forrest County Emergency Management director Terry Steed said at least 14 Guardsmen were injured and taken to the hospital Monday night after what is believed to be strong line winds hit their barracks. The injuries occurred just after 11 p.m.
Officals say none of the soldiers' injuries appear to be life-threathning.
That same storm system also toppled a 200-foot radio tower on top of the Forrest General Hospital. The tower fell to the ground in front of the hospital. Windows were broken, but no patients were injured.

It’s been over a year since Southern Miss hired Jon Gilbert as its athletic director on January 24, 2017. Golden Eagle athletics have been trending up since then. USM recently added beach volleyball to its repertoire and will break ground on a new indoor volleyball facility this week.
