Police: Bail bondsman arrested for carrying stolen gun in police department

Authorities recovered a gun stolen in

Mississippi nearly 12 years ago when a bail bondsman allegedly

walked into a police station in Louisiana with the weapon in his

possession.

Officials with the Monroe Police Department in Louisiana ran the

serial number of the pistol when Jimmy Logan, who lives in Byram,

Miss., allegedly carried the weapon Thursday into police

headquarters.

Only police officers are allowed to carry weapons inside the

station.

Logan was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and

possession of a stolen firearm. He was released Saturday on $2,000

bond. It was not clear if he had hired an attorney and he could not

be reached for comment.

Rankin County Sheriff Ronnie Pennington told the Clarion-Ledger

newspaper that the gun was reported missing in September 1996.
