Campaign seeks to run Barbour for vice president

Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour for vice president? That may not be far fetched.

There is a national grass roots campaign underway to gather 50,000 signatures to persuade John McCain to choose Barbour as his running mate.

Organizer Josh Jones said Barbour would be the best candidate because of his record as an economic conservative. Jones' group, based in Atlanta, is running "draft Haley" commercials in Ohio and Texas, which hold their primaries March 4.

The governor is out of state, but his office says he's too busy focusing on the job he has now, adding he is too busy for idle speculation.
