Lawmakers discuss possibility of Mississippi lottery

The state House of Representatives will hold a hearing at 1 p.m. today on the issue of creating a state lottery.

Members and leaders of the State Gaming Commission will present the pros and cons of the issue and relate how a lottery would be operated.

Representatives of state casinos will also offering testimony at the hearing.

WDAM spoke with Republican Senator Tom King of Petal, representative of District 44, who said he believed the prospects of a state lottery were unlikely. He added he was personally against the idea.
