Authorities check DNA in dismembered body case

A Memphis family has turned over DNA

samples of a missing family member to Mississippi officials

investigating a dismembered body found earlier this week near the

Coldwater River.

The family had filed a missing person's report Tuesday with the

Memphis Police Department.

The body of a woman - minus the head, feet and hands - was found

Thursday off U.S. Highway 78 in Mississippi by a road crew.

Authorities were awaiting the results of an autopsy report.

They searched Friday along the highway and in the river but

found nothing.

The woman was black and in her late 20s to mid-30s.
