Three Pine Belt residents killed in vehicle accidents

Three Pine Belt Residents were killed in two separate accidents Wednesday.

70-year-old Mary Mixon of Prentiss and passenger 65-year-old Latimore Jones of Collins were killed Wednesday night when their car collided with another vehicle at the Hwy 84 and Friendship Road intersection west of Collins.

State troopers say neither were wearing a seatbelt.

Their vehicle collided with another driven by Gene Knight of Seminary. He and passenger Amos Sanford are listed in serious condition.

Officials say Mixon failed to yield the right of way.

In Perry County, a single car accident claimed the life of a Richton Woman. 36-year-old Shelia Hinton apparently lost control of her car and traveled off the road at the Hwy29 and Janice Road intersection.
