Police hunting Hattiesburg bank robber

Hattiesburg police say a man entered the BancorpSouth branch bank at 3100 Hardy Street about 4:30 pm Wednesday and demanded money from the teller.  It's not known at this time if the suspect had a gun.  Authorities say the man escaped on foot with an undetermined amount of money.  He's described as a white male, late 30s or early 40s.

The bank is located adjacent to the USM campus.  Authorities say the suspect fled on foot, headed north towards campus.  Hattiesburg police and Lamar County deputies converged on the area with a K-9 unit, but police apparently lost track of the suspect near the intersection of Pearl and Ross Blvd.

If you have any information on this bank robber, contact Metro Crimestoppers at 582-STOP.
