Myron Luther Magill, 53, of Moss Point was being held Wednesday in the Jackson County jail on a charge of failing to comply with the state's sex-offender laws.
Sheriff's investigators say they learned in October that Magill was not living at the address he gave authorities.
Mississippi law requires anyone convicted of a sex offense to register where they are living with the Mississippi Sex Offender Registration Office.
State law requires registered sex offenders to notify authorities 10 days prior to living at a new address.
Magill had been convicted of sexual battery in 2002 in Jackson County. Sheriff Mike Byrd says Magill registered in July 2007, but had not been at the address he gave the state.
Byrd says Magill disappeared and was arrested on January 15th at the Boomtown Casino in Biloxi.
Magill was awaiting an initial court appearance.
