Two Lauderdale Co. jailers arrested

Two correctional officers at the

Lauderdale County jail have been charged with wrongdoing and fired.

Sheriff Billy Sollie said David Dyess, 35, of Quitman, and Joni

Kimiko Mosley, 26, of Meridian, have been charged with the

introduction of contraband, a felony offense.

The internal investigation, said Sollie, is ongoing.

Authorities say the contraband was a cell phone that Mosley

purchased for her inmate boyfriend, Christopher Aikens, and that

Dyess delivered to him.

Dyess has been a correctional officer since September 2002 and

was promoted to supervisor in 2004. Mosley has been a correctional

officer since January 2007. as there is no evidence of sexual


Sollie said both Dyess and Mosley are being held in the county

jail on $15,000 bond each.
