Jackson stadium to add to box office security

Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium has added round-the-clock in hopes of preventing another robbery at the facility's box office.

Stadium manager Watt Whatley says an outside security firm has been hired and the Jackson Police Department has been asked for more officers to protect employees handling cash during and after events at the stadium.

On September 23rd nearly $200,000 was reportedly taken during a robbery in which two armed men held up employees at the box office about 1 a.m., almost four hours after the Battle of the Bands ended. No arrests have been made.

The Jackson Police Department provided security during the event, but not afterward.

The Battle of the Bands attracted a crowd of nearly 40,000.
