A Hinds County jury has acquitted 19-year-old Damion Lewis of murder charges in the 2006 slaying of his neighbor.
The verdict was handed down Thursday.
Lewis was accused of killing 34-year-old Jonathan Harris, whose body was found the night of Jan. 18, 2006 by a Jackson police officer on patrol.
The body was wrapped in a blanket behind the Rebelwood Apartments in south Jackson. Harris had been shot once in the head.
Defense attorneys argued Harris was shot during a struggle between the two men.
Prosecutors say Lewis killed Harris during an attempted robbery.
Lewis' brother, Derrick, and another teen were also originally charged in the shooting. But charges were dropped against Derrick Lewis and the other youth.
