A silent film classic is the first movie to be shown by a new organization for film lovers in Hattiesburg. Fritz Lang's 1927 masterpiece, Metropolis was featured at the Saenger Theater tonight.
It's the first film shown by the new, Hattiesburg Film Society. That group hopes to bring classic and lesser-known, independent films to the Hub City.
"The society chose it (Metropolis) number one, because it is such an amazing film and furthermore, we really felt that opening with a film from the very early days of cinema would help to send a message that the society is serious about its appreciation of film," said Chris Cagle, Director for the Hattiesburg Film Society.
