Private plane carrying Brandon family crashes at Oxford-University airport

A private plane carrying a Brandon family

home from the Louisiana Tech-Mississippi football game crashed

Saturday at Oxford-University Airport.

Pilot Douglas Wolfe and his family escaped serious injury in the

crash, which happened about 7:40 p.m., said Jeffrey Alford, Ole

Miss associate vice chancellor for university relations.

Wolfe's wife, Mary, and sons James and Joseph were also aboard

the private, single-engine aircraft when it crashed at the

northeast end of the runway.

The plane went down within the airport perimeter and the wreck

has been cordoned off, Alford said. The Federal Aviation

Administration has been notified and an investigation is expected

to begin Sunday morning.
