Jackson homeowner facing no charges in shooting, police say

Jackson police say they will not press charges against a homeowners who shot and killed a man Monday during an apparent attempted armed robbery.
Police say Kenneth "Corey" Stewman was shot to death after he and another man tried to rob a homeowner getting out of his vehicle in west Jackson.

Police say the homeowner grabbed his gun and fired, hitting Stewman once in the chest.

Police did not identify the homeowner.

Jackson Police Department Sergeant Eric Smith says a gun was discovered in Stewman's possession. He says no evidence was apparent that Stewman or the other man returned fire.

The second suspect was still being sought.

Smith says the homeowner's and the suspect's guns were taken by police.

Smith says the homeowner will not face any charges, but the findings by police will be turned over to the district attorney for review.
