Arkansas man faces murder charge in fatal I-220 wreck

A 28-year-old Arkansas man faces two counts of murder in connection with a three-car wreck on Interstate 220 that left two Jackson residents dead last week.

Ridgeland police Sergeant Brian Myers says Shawn Hynes of North Little Rock, Arkansas, will be formally arrested when he is released from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he is being treated for serious injuries from the Ridgeland crash.  A municipal judge signed the warrants for the arrest late Tuesday.

Hynes was driving south on I-220 Thursday night at "a high rate of speed" when he crossed the median and crashed into vehicles driven by Emily Irby and Mario Whipps. Both died from injuries sustained in the collisions.
