Jackson police shooting leaves one dead

Jackson police are investigating a police shooting that left a man dead.

Our sister station in Jackson, WLBT, reports the shooting happened Sunday during a traffic stop in northwest Jackson.

Police Chief Shirlene Anderson says the vehicle was stopped, and the individual had several misdemeanor warrants.

She says an altercation erupted and the officer ended up using deadly force.

Neither the victim's nor the officer's names were released.

The officer was also injured but was treated at a local hospital and released.
