USM classes resume after being closed during weather scare

The University of Southern Mississippi

Gulf Coast will resume classes Monday after canceling weekend

studies due to the fear of rough weather.

The closure included the Gulf Coast Student Service Center in

Gulfport, the Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach, the Keesler Air Force

Base Teaching Site in Biloxi, and the Jackson County Teaching Site

in Gautier.

University officials said they canceled Saturday classes due to

the threat of a tropical weather system. However, the storm made

landfall in the Florida Panhandle.
