Gulf Coast will resume classes Monday after canceling weekend
studies due to the fear of rough weather.
The closure included the Gulf Coast Student Service Center in
Gulfport, the Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach, the Keesler Air Force
Base Teaching Site in Biloxi, and the Jackson County Teaching Site
University officials said they canceled Saturday classes due to
the threat of a tropical weather system. However, the storm made
landfall in the Florida Panhandle.
Chris Robinson took over a JCJC softball program nine years ago that won just 10 games in the season prior. Coach Joe Hartfield had big shoes to fill when he stepped in the season following Hattiesburg’s 2006 state championship, when the Tigers were led by Larry Knight. Twelve years later, Hartfield has brought the Tigers their sixth state title and the first in his 20-year coaching career.
