Jail escapee captured in Corinth

A Forrest County Community Work Center inmate who escaped from his work detail Friday near the Petal Police Department has been apprehended in Corinth.  

Mississippi Department of Corrections investigators, probation and parole officers and the Corinth Police Department made the arrest of Markell Prather at around 1 a.m. today. 

Officials say the arrest was made without incident.

Prather, 25, was working as a Forrest County Community Work Center inmate and serving a 5-year sentence for grand larceny from Prentiss County.

Officials say Prather will be transported to the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.

He faces an additional 5-year sentence if convicted of escape.
