Covington Hospital trustees OK management contracts

The Covington County Hospital Board of Trustees apparently has taken a major step toward curing the problems of that troubled facility.

Meeting in executive session Monday night, the trustees voted to award contracts for the management of the hospital and the yet-to-be-opened nursing home.

Dry Creek Management got the contract to run the nursing home on a month-to-month basis, and a group led by Joe McNaulty was awarded a one-year contract to run the hospital.

By signing on, Dry Creek has apparently agreed to withdraw an appeal to the state Board of Health regarding a certificate of need, clearing the way for the nursing home to open.

The trustees plan to meet with the Covington County supervisors to present their decision.
