A Pike County couple has filed a lawsuit against the North Pike School District and bus driver Steve Brock over an accident that sent 17 students to the hospital.
Cassandra and Rontel Robinson Sr. filed the lawsuit on behalf of their son, Rontel Robinson Jr.
Rontel Jr. was a passenger in a North Pike Middle School bus that collided with a Sanderson Farms chicken truck driven by Benton T. Stevenson of Magnolia on Oct. 16.
The bus was headed south on River Ridge Road and the truck was going north when they collided near the Von Beard Lane intersection.
Seventeen students were treated at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, but school officials at the time said none appeared seriously injured. A North Pike official declined comment.

On Friday the Hattiesburg City Council approved a motion that allows the City to receive bids for the demolition of a portion of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. The council voted 4-1 in favor of the motion during a special called meeting, with only Deborah Delgado opposing the plan.
