Forrest Co. marks success of reverse 911

It's been eight years since Forrest County activated a reverse 911 system, and so far it's being well received.

The system is a way for law enforcement to issue a mass alert to events such as a chemical spill or missing children, by using your telephone. A designated area is selected in a computer database and then the alert is transmitted through a voice recording.

Forrest County was one of the first counties in the state to implement the system, which cost about $46,000.
