Students at Sacred Heart School in Hattiesburg spent Labor Day in class. It was their first day of school.
After a summer of extensive renovations, students can finally enjoy their upgraded environment. The school added a new junior high and high school building. In two weeks, a new cafeteria will be complete.
Work was also done on the elementary school. Floors, ceilings and walls were redone. A fresh coat of paint was added and new heaters and air conditioners were installed. Plus the school is enjoying all-new electrical and mechanical systems.
"I'm so excited it's finally here," says principal Maribeth Andereck
In a week 4th, 5th and 6th grade students can move out of the trailer classrooms they are using and into the renovated elementary school building.
