4 highway deaths; MHP issues 5,000 citations

The Labor Day holiday weekend is almost over, but the Mississippi Highway Patrol will be out in full force until Tuesday morning.

Officials say over the weekend there were four reported fatalities throughout the state.  More than 5,000 citations were issued for speeding, and 112 drivers were ticketed for DUI. And so far, there have been 17 drug arrests.

Patrol Sgt. James Snyder says the Labor Day holiday is one of the busiest weekends of the year for travelers.

Labor Day weekend officially ends at midnight tonight.
