Trial rescheduled for 2008 for McNeil in Meridian teenager's death

Next May former boxer Clint McNeil will go on trial for the slaying of a Meridian teenager -- some three years after he was charged in the incident.

McNeil is accused of killing Cedric Chambliss in Clarke County in 2005. The case was moved to Lauderdale County on a change of venue.

This week, because of scheduling conflicts with his attorneys, the case was reset for May 5, 2008 in Meridian.

McNeil was released on bond in July and remains free pending trial.

McNeil's brother, 29-year-old David Bradley McNeil, of Meridian, and 36-year-old Regina Arlene Johnson, of Quitman, have each been charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

No trial dates have been announced for them.
