Homes are going up throughout the city of Laurel.
Mayor Melvin Mack says the city has partnered with the Laurel Housing Authority to build nearly a hundred homes in the city.
Mack says these will replace 75 of the dilapidated homes that have been torn down since he took office.
He says Laurel is seeing a housing boom.
"These are single-family dwellings. These are homes that people will soon own and will be on the tax roll. I understand that there are also about 75 apartment complexes that are being built in North Laurel also. So Laurel is booming with new homes and apartments."
