Homes are going up throughout the city of Laurel.
Mayor Melvin Mack says the city has partnered with the Laurel Housing Authority to build nearly a hundred homes in the city.
Mack says these will replace 75 of the dilapidated homes that have been torn down since he took office.
He says Laurel is seeing a housing boom.
"These are single-family dwellings. These are homes that people will soon own and will be on the tax roll. I understand that there are also about 75 apartment complexes that are being built in North Laurel also. So Laurel is booming with new homes and apartments."Mack says all the homes will be complete and up for sale in the next several weeks.
