Suspect arrested after copper theft from Dixie EPA

Jones County officials have arrested one alleged copper thief and are searching for other suspects.

Officials with Dixie Electric Power Association say someone stole over 500 pounds of copper from the utility's trucks Thursday night. The copper, worth $1,200, was recovered at a recycling center.

Deputies with the Jones County Sheriff's Department say they have arrested one of the suspects but are looking for others who may have been involved.

This is the third time in the last six weeks copper has been stolen from Dixie Electric.
