Four now charged in slaying at Rankin Co. mobile home park

Four people have now been charged after the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of two others at a mobile home park on the north side of Pelahatchie Bay at the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

Rankin County Sheriff Ronnie Pennington says the shooting was the result of a fight among park residents. Pennington said three suspects have been charged with capital murder and another has been charged as an accessory.

Also, authorities said at least seven Hispanic residents of the park were determined to be illegal immigrants.

Pennington said he planned to talk to the park's owner to determine if he was knowingly housing illegal immigrants. The sheriff would not identify the owner.
