Three charged in mobile home park slaying

Rankin County authorities are charging three people with capital murder after the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of two others at a mobile home park on the north side of Pelahatchie Bay at the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
     
Rankin County Undersheriff Bryan Bailey said 23-year-old Anthony Perez of Brandon; 19-year-old Corey Sims, of Braxton; and an unidentified juvenile have been charged with capital murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault and burglary.
     
The trio is being held without bond in the county jail pending an initial court appearance.
     
Bailey said the victims' identities haven't been verified.

    After losing the first two games of the season by a combined five points, Collins has won 12 consecutive games to advance to the class 2A South State title. The Tigers (12-2) defeated Bay Springs 22-8 on Friday to advance to a south state matchup against Taylorsville (13-1). Collins scored twice in the fourth quarter to overcome the Bulldogs on the road. "I feel great," said Collins head coach Eric Booth, a former USM running back.
