Justice Department investigates Mississippi-based Alcatec Corporation

The Justice Department has launched an investigation against Mississippi-based Alcatec Corporation for possible mail fraud.   Alcatec has been under a federal probe since June, when F.B.I. agents seized files and computers from it's offices in Jackson, Flowood and Brooklyn.

According to a warrant issued by a federal court in Jackson, the seizure could reveal federal mail fraud violations.  Alcatec, which is owned by Rosemary Barbour, the niece of Governor Haley Barbour, was recently under investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor for allegations that it failed to pay overtime to some of its employees.

In recent years, Alcatec has been awarded at least 2 multi-million-dollar federal contracts with F.E.M.A.
