Jeff Davis County authorities tonight say the body of a 71-year-old man was discovered in his home by a friend at about 4 p.m. on South Williamsburg Road in Bassfield.
Authorities say the man, identified as Arthur Duckworth, may have died on Thursday.
Officials say the home had no cooling system and they say that may have contributed to his death. Investigators say there's no sign of foul play but an autopsy will be conducted on Monday night.
With the extremely hot weather conditions, authorities urge neighbors to check on the elderly.
