Jury selection has started in Hattiesburg for a south Forrest County man who eluded deputies for two days but was finally captured and wounded after a high-speed chase.
Thomas Slade, 59, is charged with burglary, eluding officers, and aggravated assault in connection with the March incident.
Slade was wounded by deputies when they discovered him in a wooded area following a chase. Slade was armed with a rifle and deputies said they feared for their safety.
At the time, Slade was on federal probation for previous crimes.
