Lumberton teen treated to Make-a-Wish shopping spree

A Lumberton teenager who suffers from a life-threatening illness had her wish of a shopping spree come true today, thanks to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

17-year-old Melissa Jones spent this afternoon shopping for just what she wanted at the Turtle Creek Mall.  Melissa suffers from Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.

She and her family spent a couple of hours shopping.  Among the items Melissa got was a cell phone and some clothing.

"It's great to come out and support her," said Leroy Roberts, Melissa's guardian.

"We like what the foundation is doing for us and we appreciate them and we ask that God will bless this and bless them for what they've done for us," Roberts said.

In the last year, the Make-a-Wish Foundation has sponsored the wishes of more than 60 deserving children like Melissa across Mississippi.
