USM rushes The Village to completion

Crews have been working around the clock at Southern Miss trying to get The Village, the new sorority homes, ready for next week.

On Wednesday, sorority members move into their new digs. This week, workers were busy assembling furniture in the bedrooms. Nine homes make up The Village and each house accomodates 30 women. The bedrooms are equipped with two full-size beds and a bathroom, plus brand new furniture.

"We are looking forward to having all the furniture in and getting the women here so they can experience this for the first time," says Christopher Crenshaw, director of residence life. "Everybody has been sitting on the sidelines waiting for this to happen and it's finally coming to fruition so we are excited about it."

Crenshaw says landscaping work will begin after homecoming and the entire project should be completed by early spring.
