A send-off ceremony was held at Camp Shelby Friday for 153 Iraq-bound Mississippi soldiers.
The 1387th Quartermaster Company is made up of soldiers from across the state, primarily Greenville. The unit has been training at Shelby for nearly two months.
Their mission is water purification for five forward operating bases in Iraq.
There are currently about 550 Mississippi soldiers stationed overseas and officials say there will be about 850 by the end of the year.
