Hub schools want a/c in future buses

Hattiesburg's public schools want to upgrade future buses to make them cooler for students.

All of the district's regular buses currently don't have air conditioning. School officials say although students who ride the bus spend less than 30 minutes on them, the extremely hot weather can be dangerous.

They say there have been no problems with students getting sick while on the buses nor have any parents complained. But for the sake of student safety officials plan to upgrade future purchases to include air conditioning.

About 2,600 students ride Hattiesburg's public school buses.
