Man sentenced to 30 years in grandmother's death

A man has been sentenced to 30 years in the death of his grandmother.

Thirty-year-old Jerry Wayne Brazeal pleaded guilty to manslaughter and to false pretense in the death of 79-year-old Annie Uchello who died in 2004.

Circuit Judge Lisa Dodson Tuesday sentenced Dodson to 20 years on the manslaughter charge and 10 years for false pretense for trying to use his grandmother's checks. The sentences will run consecutively.
Brazeal was arrested at Whitfield Mental Hospital where he had checked himself in after striking his grandmother with a hammer.
