A 73-year-old unidentified Laurel women
who survived six days without food or water after slipping outside
her home is recovering in a hospital.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the home Thursday and
found the woman lying on her porch unable to move.
Medic Renee Bell says Laurel residents were surprised the woman
survived so long.
She was listed in stable condition Friday.
Bell says the woman returned home July 20 from the grocery
store, then slipped on a step and fell on her back.
A bag of groceries containing a carton of milk and ice cream
fell just out of her reach.
Shrubs lining her porch concealed her from passing vehicles.
A neighbor, Glen Bell, called for authorities after hearing what
sounded like faint screams for help.
The woman was found dehydrated, trembling and covered in
