Moose Lodge checks lead to forgery charges

A former administrator with the Petal Moose Lodge faces several criminal charges after allegedly forging checks from lodge accounts and making payments to himself.

Steven Diehl, 46, is charged with six counts of forgery and six counts of uttering and forgery.  He made his initial appearance in court Thursday, where Judge Sheila Smallwood set his bond at $60,000.

Investigators say since January, Diehl had been forging the names of several board members on checks written to himself.  Those checks totaled nearly $3,000.
