Jones SO arrests 2 in copper wire thefts

Jones County authorities have arrested two men in connection with the recent thefts of copper wire.

Sheriff Larry Dykes told 7 ON YOUR SIDE that his deputies arrested the two late Wednesday afternoon just off Highway 29 near the Perry County line.

Dykes says investigators found a couple of hundred feet of copper wire in an old oil well site.

The two are being questioned at this hour and Dykes says these suspects may be connected to the recent rash of cut and stolen phones lines, where thieves removed the copper wiring.
