Federal minimum wage goes up this week

Workers earning minimum wage will be seeing a small increase in their paychecks starting this week.  The new federal minimum wage will now be $5.85 per hour...an increase of 70 cents.

This marks the first time in 10 years that the minimum wage has been increased.

A person working full-time on the current minimum wage of $5.15 will earn roughly $12,000 a year before taxes.
