A Lincoln County employee was killed and a county supervisor was injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident near the Marion-Lamar county line.
State troopers say 46-year-old Tommy Kyzar of Brookhaven was killed when his Chevy pickup veered into the other lane of Highway 13 and struck an oncoming 18-wheeler.
Lincoln County supervisor Jerry Wilson was reportedly asleep in the passenger side of the pickup. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
The 18-wheeler belonged to Triple M Logging, and its driver, 22-year-old Joshua Carey of Richton, suffered minor injuries.
A woman is behind bars in Perry County after deputies found about seven grams of crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop. According to the Perry County Sheriff's Office, a K-9 unit made the traffic stop on Thomas Creek Road Saturday night. Vanessa Lynn Ferguson, 39, of New Augusta was arrested.
